About Us

Our Mission: To give children the opportunity to learn a second language or even a third!

Little Linguists Academy's sole focus is teaching foreign languages to children in a fun and interactive environment. Since 2001, proud parents of students taught by Little Linguists Academy have watched their children expand their knowledge and show off their language skills. The teachers of Little Linguists Academy have taught thousands of children how to speak foreign languages. Little Linguists Academy is the most innovative source for parents who wish to give their children the gift of language.

We know that learning a foreign language is a lifelong commitment. We work hard to ensure that our students enjoy their first introduction to language so that they choose to continue their journey in the future.

Little Linguists Academy was found by Angel Li, a mother of two multi-lingual children. Angel, a native of Taiwan, was often reminded that children of a parent from another country who grow up in the United States will eventually reject a foreign language and only speak English. She was determined to ensure that her children would not reject Chinese. As she raised her children, she formed her philosophy to teach her children Chinese in a way that was fun and rich in culture. Today, her children are fluent in Chinese and proud to speak the language and happily learn other languages. This philosophy is what drives Little Linguists Academy.

Testimonials

"My daughter LOVED little linguists -- the energy level was great, Angel is wonderful, as well as her assistant teacher -- I can't ask for a better first immersion into Chinese for my dd -- the only reason we stopped going was because we moved :(  There is structure to the "classes" but made very interesting for the pre-schooler (my daughter was 2ish when she went) the crafts, songs, and activities are all themed very well (Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc.) and class length was just right-- I have previously tried other language schools as well but found that they were either too quick (not enough repetition, not enough word associations) or too far away for me to want to bother.  My daughter used to run up the steps to get to her class and that says a lot!"

"My daughter, Iris, has been taking Mandarin lessons since she was 20 months old and is now 4 years old. She actually knew how to count to 20 way before she knew how to count to 20 in English!! She feels very comfortable with Little Linguists' method of teaching which includes singing Mandarin songs (one of her favorite activities), arts and crafts and also lessons sitting in a mini school type of environment. Iris is very aware (has a good ear) of foreign languages and is even apt to trying to pronounce.. Korean, French or anything that comes her way. The teaching is essential - the exposure is immeasurable. I see Mandarin as the next BIG language to know. The environment is warm and nurturing and the flexibility is only one that a small business can offer. I also LOVE the special field trips and Chinese recognition of holidays and culture brought to the table with these classes. This special feature plus young and energetic teachers make the program entirely unique on the North Shore!"

"My son has been enrolled in the Little Linguists Program for the past two years. He has learned valuable vocabulary in a foreign language and has also learned a great deal about French culture and even history. From an academic standpoint, my son's French lessons have also strengthened his vocabulary and reading skills in his regular English Language Arts class. There is a direct correlation between the grammar, syntax and vocabulary learned in a foreign language class and these same skills in an English Language Arts setting. My son's reading and writing and vocabulary in English have benefitted from his twice weekly study of French. I see Little Linguists as a vital boost to my son's overall academic achievement. It is, however, the creativity and enthusiasm of his teachers that makes my son eager to attend his French classes each week. He responds positively to the creative activities, music and art projects that Little Linguists incorporates into its curriculum. When we ask him what he has learned, he lists any number of words and phrases, ideas and songs, but the bottom line for him is that his French class is fun. We, as parents, appreciate the accessibility and professionalism of the Little Linguists faculty and enjoy the semester's end presentation that our son's class makes for the parents. Little Linguists is, in short, one of the most valuable aspects of our son's education."

Since my daughter, Daisy Sanchez began her class on October 25, 2010 at Bell School located at 3730 N Oakley, Daisy has done nothing but want to learn more and more Spanish. She very much looks forward to Spanish classes on Mondays and Wednesdays with Ms. Matilde.

"I can say that as a Spanish speaker myself, Daisy is learning at a very rapid rate to both understand and speak the language. May I also say, as my own personal view, Ms. Matilde has this wonderful connection with all the children in her class. I’ve heard it while standing outside of her classroom. I’ve seen it in her classroom while I was in their presence."
